ACCIDENTS AT WORK COST £4.3M EVERY YEAR

Accidents at work cost the Plymouth area a whopping £4.3million a year, according to new figures.
The statistics, released by the Health and Safety Executive, coincide with the launch of a ’shattered lives’ campaign, created to drive home the importance of safety at work.

Ministers promise lighter approach to rules enforcement

Regulators are required to take a lighter approach when introducing new rules, under a new code of practice introduced by the government.
The Regulators’ Compliance Code, which came into force on Sunday, forces authorities such as the Environment Agency and the Health and Safety Executive to take a risk-based approach to the enforcement of new legislation.
